Notes of great captains and discoverers

The vintage map of the world has a few interesting features. The one we like the most is probably the markings and notes from logbooks of the great captains and discoverers. You can find voyages of Abel Tasman, James Cook, George Vancouver and Christopher Columbus to mention a few. There are markings of many historical events like James Cook’s death date and place in Hawaii and the discovery of Tasmania – at the time called Van Diemen’s Land. The amount of information on this large vintage map is very generous, and if you are interested in a bit of history, it will be a great source of entertainment for you.

Daniel Lizars from Edinburgh is the author of the map. He published the map at the beginning of the 1830s. Soon after his map was published, his business went bankrupt and he moved to Canada with his family.

Sit down, have a drink, relax and observe the vintage map of the world

If you like history and you know a few people that do too, this map is perfect for you. The markings on the map are a limitless source of conversation starters. To add a vintage and genuine feel to the map, we used over 100 years old chestnut wood for the frame and hand-forged rusty steel hardware – nails, hinges and stylised lilies at the ends of the bottom frame. It will fit perfectly on a wall in a poolroom, a sitting room next to a piano, library, a lounge room opposite to a fireplace or nice vintage dining room. Pour yourself and your mate a whiskey or gin and tonic if you prefer, sit down and observe the world displayed on your wall!

If I could give more than 5 stars I totally would! We love the map! I suffer from pretty bad buyers remorse on just about everything I buy and never once have I felt like that with this map! Every time we walk by it and stop to look at the details we think how cool it is! The shipping was super fast I even got it before a few other things I ordered around the same time! And these guys were so helpful in answering all of our questions! Even helped us determine the best way to hang it! Highly recommend!

Blaz was kind, fair, and gracious despite my mistake. I ordered the wrong map and had it shipped across the world to discover my mistake. Blaz helped me get the large map back to his country and we found the right map for me. I eventually ended up with a modern world map. The map is beautiful and educational. It’s a piece of art that gets nothing but praise by visitors. I’m grateful for this map and would highly recommend Blaz and his business. If anyone is looking for a map that has a touch of something special, you now have a place to go.
